woven copper, steel, brass and aluminum

My earliest inroads to creativity began with fiber, beginning with my grandmother’s treadle sewing machine. With my current work, I feel I have gone back to my roots working with a foot operated weaving loom. Although my process is conventional, loom weaving, my techniques are inventive pushing the limits of the fiber by integrating metal wire and paint elements. My current work explores the contrast between two components known for their fortitude and fragility. The results is a complex fabric that balance between textile and sculpture. The movement of the wire produces unusual patterns and texture that is unpredictable.
